A man currently being held in the Chase County Jail has been charged in federal court with drug distribution and conspiracy.
Seferino Carrillo is charged with possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl as part of an alleged incident Oct. 18.
If convicted, Carrillo faces up to 30 years in federal prison, postrelease supervision of at least six years and a fine of up to $2 million for the distribution counts and the conspiracy count after his federal conviction for meth distribution in 2014.
Additional information is not being divulged. The affidavit, or law enforcement narrative, is sealed with federal prosecutors mentioning an ongoing investigation in this case.
Carrillo waived detention as part of a hearing Nov. 4. He will return to federal court in Topeka on Dec. 5 for a status hearing.
