An Emporia man will return to court later this month following his first appearance on felony child abuse charges Monday.
Jade Michael Mason, age 35, appeared in Lyon County District Court Monday where he was set for a pretrial hearing at 9 am on Wednesday, December 18. Mason is currently facing two counts of abuse after his arrest late last month.
Both counts involve allegedly “knowingly impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood” by essentially choking the alleged victims, who are no more than 10 and seven years old, based on documents posted on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
Mason also faces two counts each of child endangerment and two more of battery. These four counts are misdemeanors.
