DUI arrests were down, but speed citations and warnings were up in the Kansas Highway Patrol’s Thanksgiving holiday activity report.
Troopers made 13 DUI arrests between Nov. 27-Dec. 1, below the 18 arrests last year and 29 from two years ago.
Troopers also had significant increases in speed citations and warnings. Citations went from 621 last year to 1,135 this year, while warnings went from 689 to 1,042. Safety belt citations and child restraint citations were also up from last year.
Troopers had no DUI-related fatal crashes this past holiday period, but they worked a non-DUI fatal crash in Nemaha County.
