The Emporia High girls wrestling finished second in its home invitational held at Emporia Middle School on Saturday.
Emporia High had one first place finish with junior Alexa Castillo going 2-0 at 235. Castillo said she’s off to a great start to her junior season.
Sienna Spaulding (105), Chloe Steele (110) and Yaneli Carranza (145) each finished second. Heily Batres (115), Kensley Medrano (120), Karah Cooper (125), Mia Gardner (140), Karla Rodriguez (155), Marisol Renteria-Villator (170) and Gabby Durate (190) all finished third. Claire Starr (130) was fourth.
Emporia High coach Shawn Russell said it was a great day of wrestling and gearing up for tougher competition throughout the season.
Emporia High heads to Great Bend on Friday and Saturday.
