A man currently being held in the Chase County Jail on drug distribution and conspiracy charges will return to federal court in two months.
Seferino Carrillo had a pretrial hearing Thursday in Topeka. Based on information from the federal Public Access to Court Electronic Records system, Carrillo’s defense team requested time to review “limited discovery” and federal prosecutors did not object. Judge Toby Crouse then set a status conference for Feb. 2.
Carrillo is charged with possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl as part of an alleged incident Oct. 18. If convicted, Carrillo faces up to 30 years in federal prison, postrelease supervision of at least six years and a fine of up to $2 million for the distribution counts and the conspiracy count after a federal conviction for meth distribution in 2014.
