A popular local eatery will be closing its doors permanently later this month.
Amanda’s Bakery and Cafe announced via its official Facebook page Monday that the restaurant will be “closing our doors on December 21, 2024.” The post stated, “Thank you for all these wonderful years (over 17!) of your business with us in Emporia! We have all had a great time getting to know everyone who has made Amanda’s Bakery part of their lives whether it be from having one of our delish cinnamon rolls or sandwiches or even just stopping by to chat. Each and every one of you have made an impact on Amanda and each of us who work here. Unfortunately, its time to start something new.”
A reason for the closure has not been listed. KVOE News has reached out to Amanda’s Bakery for additional comment.
This is the third business closure announcement within the local community over the last week, following the announcements last Monday and Tuesday that both Emporia’s Tyson plant and Holiday Resort would be either ending operations or closing their doors soon. The Tyson closure is expected in two phases between this month and February 14.
The Holiday Resort closure is on pause until further notice after the Kansas Department for Children and Families appointed Mission Health as the temporary manager of the property for at least 30 days holding off the planned closure last Friday.
