Two unrelated adult mistreatment cases are working through Lyon County District Court.
The case against Jacob Lee Leiszler saw a delay in a preliminary hearing from Wednesday to Jan. 22 after prosecutors said it is still processing certain documents and has not received others.
Leiszler is charged with two counts of mistreatment, one for alleged physical jury, unreasonable confinement or unreasonable punishment and the other for allegedly taking between $25,000 and $100,000 from the alleged victim. The physical mistreatment count also has an alternate count of aggravated battery.
Meanwhile, a sentencing date has been scheduled for Juan Diego Romero-Hernandez, originally charged with one count of financial mistreatment to the tune of $1,500 to $25,000 and one count of theft with the same financial range. Romero-Hernandez pleaded no contest to the mistreatment count.
Romero-Hernandez had been charged after a woman said she was called by a man claiming to be a bondsman and needing money to get her relative out of jail shortly before Christmas 2023. The suspect then received cash from the victim shortly afterward.
Sentencing will be Jan. 29.
