The Emporia High basketball teams split their doubleheader with Wichita Trinity to wrap up Day 2 of the Paul Terry Classic Friday at Spartan Gymnasium.
Wichita Trinity won the girls game, 32-27, in overtime. The Lady Knights jumped out to a 7-0 lead before EHS cut it to 7-4 at the end of the first quarter. EHS took an 11-9 lead before Trinity scored four consecutive points for a 13-11 halftime advantage. Trinity took a 20-17 lead heading to the fourth and led by as many as six with regulation ending in a 26-all tie. EHS scored the first point of overtime but Trinity scored the next six. Bailey Wiltz led EHS with a career-high 10 points. EHS coach Taylor Scott said the Lady Spartans took a step in the right direction.
EHS is 0-3.
In the boys game, it was all Spartans, 55-26, leading 14-7 at the end of the first and 28-11 at halftime. The Spartans led by as many as 29 in the game. Kobe Franklin led EHS with 14 points. EHS coach Lee Baldwin said it was a great way to bounce back.
EHS is 2-1. Both teams wrap up the Paul Terry Classic Saturday afternoon at 1 and 2:30 p.m. against Hayden.
