USD 251 North Lyon County is currently looking at a major change in technology management within the next 18 months.
USD 251 Superintendent Bob Blair tells KVOE News this was one of the main talking points for North Lyon County Board of Education members during their recent board meeting Wednesday evening. While the conversations were brief, Blair says this is a process the district has been looking at for some time as they are considering purchasing equipment to restore technology network control to the district.
Blair explains that for the past three years, the district has utilized the services of a third-party management company to oversee its technology network. He says the district had approved a five-year contract with K12itc at a time when the district was in a period of transition.
Thanks to recent grant money Blair says the district would be able to purchase roughly 70 percent of the needed equipment to restore full control to 251 which has many benefits.
No decisions on the matter have been made at this time with Blair saying administration plans to conduct further research with hopes of having a decision made by March.
The contract with K-12 is set to expire in 18 months.
Additional business during Wednesday’s board meeting also included financial and legislative updates, a discussion on backpacks at Northern Heights High School and the normal discussions on capital outlay and strategic planning.
The USD 251 Board of Education will reconvene in January for its first meeting of 2025.
