A change in plea may well be coming early next month in the case of an Osage City man facing federal charges of child sex exploitation.
Nicholas Engelbert had pleaded not guilty for eight counts of sex exploitation of minors, whether through production or distribution of child sex materials, under the age of 12. His next hearing is set for Jan. 2. Trial could start March 4, depending on how things go next month.
Engelbert was the subject of an investigation involving the FBI, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Garnett, Osage City and Ottawa, including a search warrant served at Engelbert’s Osage City apartment in late February.
