Christmas is now a week away, and Emporia Main Street is getting residents in the holiday spirit in a couple ways.
Horse-drawn carriage rides will conclude their annual run Thursday evening, according to Main Street Director Casey Woods.
Residents need to register online at emporiamainstreet.com. There is a suggested $10 donation. Riders under the age of five and sitting on the lap of a rider can go for free — but riders who exceed 250 pounds need to purchase two seats instead of one.
Also, a number of downtown businesses will wrap up the “Open Late — Till 8” extended shopping hours. Included with that Thursday will be the Holiday Moonlight Madness shopping event, which actually extends the shopping hours to 9 pm and giveaways of over $200 in Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Nearly 30 downtown businesses are participating in Moonlight Madness.
