If you’re healthy, you can visit Newman Regional Health. If you’re not, you’re advised to stay home until you feel better.
The hospital has started its annual illness-related visit restrictions with its labor, delivery and obstetrics area or the fourth floor, although the hospital is also reminding all visitors safe and healthy visit guidelines are needed for all patients and visitors, regardless of the location on the hospital grounds.
Residents are asked to not visit if they have had a fever, cough, sore throat or diarrhea over the past week — or who have been exposed to people with those symptoms. Also, children under the age of 12 should not be brought to the hospital for visits, while siblings under the age of 12 can visit if they pass a screening for symptoms of cold or fever.
Healthy visitors, meanwhile, are asked to follow hand hygiene guidelines like using hand sanitizer or soap, both before and after all patient visits.
Infection Prevention Specialist Tricia Parks says the restrictions are usually lifted in March or April. People wanting to send patient greetings via email can go online to newmanrh.org/patientgreetings.
