If you’re dealing with flu-like symptoms as Christmas approaches, you’re not alone.
Lyon County Health Officer Dr. Ladun Oyenuga says the earlier trend of low illness numbers has flipped. Influenza A is leading the charge — but there are a lot of illnesses with similar symptoms now in the area.
During KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Wednesday, Oyenuga said influenza B and COVID-19 are not commonplace at this time. Unfortunately, pneumonia is becoming a concern, especially for young and elderly patients.
Dr. Oyenuga says there is still time for people to get flu shots and COVID-19 shots. For COVID patients, Dr. Oyenuga says people should follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, meaning isolate for five days and then wear a mask for the next five days if you’re fever-free without medications.
