Early preparations are underway for the 2025 Polar Plunge.
The date is Feb. 15 and, once again, the location is Mouse Lake near Ninth and Topeka. Longtime organizer Scott Hayes says the bulk of the event will be much the same as in years past.
Volunteer numbers are solid. Hayes says a key focus now is gaining sponsorships.
Residents wanting to participate can do so individually or as part of a team. The minimum fundraising goal per person is $100 after being $75 for years. All proceeds go to Special Olympics efforts at the local and state levels, including the annual state games.
More information is available online at plungeks.org or soks.org. Residents can also call Hayes at 620-344-1401, Dominick Vortherms at 316-204-0212 or John Koelsch at 620-341-3201.
