The Kansas State football team overcame a 27-17 halftime deficit to stun Rutgers 44-41 and win the Rate Bowl at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz. on Thursday. The Scarlet Knights and Wildcats were knotted at 17-all before three-straight Rutgers scores put them in front 34-17 with just under nine minutes to play in the third quarter. The Wildcats outscored Rutgers 27-7 the rest of the way including the go ahead touchdown by Dylan Edwards with just over four minutes to play. It is the largest bowl comeback in Kansas State program history. KSU quarterback Avery Johnson finished 15 of 30 passing for 195 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while Kansas State ran the ball 42 times for 347 yards. Dylan Edwards carried 18 times for 196 yards and two scores. Kansas State ends the year 9-4 while Rutgers wraps the season at 7-6.
