Coming off a very successful 2024, Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says the organization will be focusing on three key areas in 2025 starting with business diversification.
The next focus will be on destination enhancement.
And the final key area will be increased community engagement.
Woods says all three of these areas are deeply rooted in one core value, the ability and willingness to embrace change.
Woods’ comments came as part of an interview on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Monday morning where he also reviewed some of the biggest highlights for the organization over the past 12 months and the list was lengthy. Among the major accomplishments, Woods noted Main Street managed to secure several first-time grants including the Hope VI Grant through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development which was put towards a $2.8 million revitalization project at 502 Commercial Street.
Additional highlights included the opening of new businesses in the downtown corridor, an increase in fabrication lab product output, continued growth for entrepreneurship and much more.
