Lyon County Commissioners will consider lending support to the economic arm of the local community when they convene for their first regular action session of the year Thursday.
As part of their regular action agenda, commissioners will consider approving a resolution of support for the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas. Details as to exactly what kind of support the county is considering are unclear, however, the consideration of the action will come just a few short weeks after Emporia City Commissioners approved a letter requesting immediate organizational changes to the RDA board.
In other business, commissioners will consider approving the purchase of two 2025 Dodge Durango’s for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office totaling more than $92,000. County Engineer Chip Woods will also seek approval of a low bid from Metal Roof Systems of Kansas for a covered truck parking building at the Lyon County Highway Department for better than $107,000 and a total amount of $61,960 for land acquisition for the bridge over the Cottonwood River.
Human Resources Director Alicia Rumold will submit an invoice from KWORCC for workers compensation insurance totaling better than $236,000 and commissioners will review the yearly county board appointment list. Three executive sessions are also planned, two for non-elected personnel and one for legal matters.
The meeting will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
