SOS will be receiving a pair of notable grant allocations from the state of Kansas to continue its work supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence.
In total, SOS will be receiving more than $65,000 in funding from the state as announced via a news release from the office of Kansas Governor Laura Kelly Monday. This will include more than $56,000 in Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) dollars and just over $11,000 in State Access and Visitation Programming funds.
FVPSA funds allow organizations to deliver various services including family violence prevention training and education, emergency shelter access, support groups, crisis intervention, advocacy and more. Meanwhile, SAVP dollars support exchange or visitation services, such as the SOS Child Visitation and Exchange Center, by allowing agencies to offer on-site programs such as therapeutic supervision, monitored exchanges, referrals to additional resources and educational parenting classes.
SOS is one of 20 agencies in 19 counties that will be sharing in more than $1.4 million in FVPSA funding and one of nine organizations across nine counties sharing in just over $95,000 in SAVP grant funding.
