A reported injury crash in west Emporia sent a pickup into a tree Thursday evening, but officers say ambulance transports were not needed afterward.
Officers and Emporia Fire/EMS were called to the intersection of Ninth and Sunnyslope after 7 pm. Sgt. Marcial Hernandez says an SUV was northbound on Sunnyslope, while a pickup was westbound on Ninth. Early indications are the SUV driver failed to yield at a stop sign, hitting the truck and sending it into a tree in a nearby yard. The SUV continued across the intersection before stopping nearby.
Emporia Fire Capt. Ben Lienemann says EMS crews observed five people at the site, four in the truck and one in the SUV. All declined ambulance transports.
Hernandez says the SUV driver was cited for failure to stop.
Names have not been released.
