Emporia Spartan Boxing will be looking to send a competitor to the Silver Gloves National Tournament this weekend.
14-year-old Cristian “Gio” Cervantes will compete in the Silver Gloves Regional finals on Saturday in Rockford, Illinois at 154 lbs. With a win, Cervantes will advance to his first national championship tournament, scheduled for early February in Independence, Missouri.
This will be Cervantes’s second time competing at the regional tournament after suffering a decision loss at the 2024 competition.
Cervantes will be riding a four-bout winning streak into the ring Saturday. Bouts will begin at noon.
