No injuries were reported and a cause is under investigation after fire destroyed a vehicle in far East Emporia Sunday evening.
Fire fighters were initially called to 1402 East Sixth Street just before 6 pm for a vehicle fire. The incident was actually located at 1720 E US Highway 50 according to EFD Captain Michael Nunley.
Nunley says the vehicle, a minivan, was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived and extinguished the flames. Nunley says an unnamed male, the driver of the vehicle, got stuck in the snow and exited the vehicle at which time he smelled a burning scent.
The vehicle then caught fire, however, the driver and a dog both were unharmed. The vehicle is considered a total loss.
