Trends in place for the Kansas Highway Patrol Christmas enforcement period resemble the ones evidenced in the New Year’s Holiday Activity Report.
Troopers noted 12 DUI arrests from 6 pm New Year’s Eve through New Year’s Day, down from 29 last year and 22 from two years ago. Speeding citations were down considerably, with 286 reported this week, almost 480 last year and almost 440 two years ago.
Safety belt citations and warnings were down for both adults and teenagers alike.
Troopers had no DUI-related fatalities to investigate for at least the third straight year.
