An appeal in an Emporia aggravated kidnapping case from several years ago is ongoing.
William Anderson has been appealing his 2019 sentence on kidnapping, aggravated battery, robbery and burglary counts since 2021, citing several alleged errors by trial counsel as the reasons for the appeal.
The next hearing in the appeal is March 27.
Anderson, 37, was initially sentenced to over 34 years in prison after a 2018 incident where a man was locked in a dog cage, threatened with knives, tattooed and had money taken from his bank account during a 24-to-30-hour incident. the sentence was reduced to just over 32 years shortly after the initial sentence was filed.
