The Madison basketball teams opened 2025 with a pair of wins over Northern Heights in Allen on Tuesday.
In the first game of the evening, Madison missed their first 10 shots of the contest in their first action in nearly a month. The Bulldogs closed out the period on a 12-0 run once they found their groove en route to a 41-11 victory against Northern Heights. Madison was led in scoring by Jalynn Weakley with 20. Madison coach Brett Dannels was not surprised by his team’s slow start after the extended break but was pleased with how his star player stepped up.
The boys game saw an identical start to the contest, with Madison racing to a 12-0 run before leading 20-2 at the end of the first quarter. Northern Heights would settle in but the run to begin the ballgame by Madison would prove to be the difference in a 46-35 victory for Madison. Brayden Grimmett knocked down six 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 18.
