The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce has concluded its award announcements by granting Emporia First Friday its Community Impact Award.
Since forming in 2016, Emporia First Friday has been dedicated to developing cultural growth and “connecting artists with the community” through a monthly event in downtown Emporia where artists spend several hours at a local business displaying their wares. The Chamber says Emporia First Friday has become “instrumental in cultivating a vibrant and inclusive cultural scene in Emporia, providing artists a platform to showcase their talents and engage with the local community.” The Chamber also credits the Emporia First Friday team of Executive Director Kaila Mock, Marketing Manager Kat Dorcas and Events Specialist Joel Smith for their work to highlight art and “contribute significantly to the economic and cultural vibrancy of the region.”
Emporia First Friday’s honor follows the announcement of Kent Schnakenberg as the Lifetime Achievement Award winner, as well as Kathryn Martin as Volunteer of the Year and Flint Hills Towing as Business of the Year.
All will be recognized during the Chamber’s 127th Annual Meeting on Saturday. Ticket availability is limited. Residents interested in attending can call the Chamber at 620-342-1600.
