The Emporia State indoor track and field teams earned six provisional qualifying marks in their first action of 2025 at the Rust Buster Invitational at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility on Friday. Connor Deters led the way for E-State winning the men’s shot put with a throw of 54 feet-10 3/4 inches for a new career best. The Lady Hornets picked up a win with Isabella Davie jumping 5 feet-1 inch to claim the women’s high jump. Sprinter Ty Anderson earned two provisional qualifying times finishing runner-up in the 60m dash with a time of 6.79. He also finished fourth in the 200m. Meanwhile Israel Domeh ran the third best 200m time in ESU history finishing third clocking in at 21.57. Max Neely was 4th in the pole vault jumping 15 feet-11 3/4 inches, tied for fourth in Hornet history. Returning national qualifier Mele Taula finished runner-up in the weight throw with a toss of 56 feet-5 1/4 inches. ESU returns to action Friday at Pittsburg State’s Rumble in the Jungle.
