The Regal Plumb, long known as Plumb Place, will host a Founders Day fundraising event for Southwick House on Feb. 22. Board Chair Jeremy Dorsey says the upcoming event is a good way to learn more about past and future when it comes to Emporia’s transitional housing history.
Southwick House Executive Director Susan Brinkman says the new facility in the 100 block of East Logan is building on the transitional housing foundation Plumb Place used to serve women in crisis situations for 100 years before it ended operations at the end of 2020.
Southwick House is about a third of the way towards its fundraising goal of $3.6 million. Its goal is to build a brand-new facility in the 100 block of East Logan Avenue — and start construction by late this year.
Founders Day activities are from 1-5 pm Feb. 22. All proceeds support the Southwick House capital campaign.
