The Lady Hornet disc golfers wrapped up an impressive weekend in Florida with a team championship on Monday. The #2 ranked team of Atlanta Krueger & Madeline Joiner took the title with an eight-stroke victory over Clemson at the Florida Collegiate Classic. The Lady Hornets were in second after day one on Saturday and moved into first following the singles competition on Sunday. Emporia State freshman Madeline Joiner won the individual title while three Lady Hornets finished in the top ten. Joiner finished -6 and won the event by nine strokes. Atlanta Krueger entered the tournament as the #1 ranked woman in the country and finished fourth shooting +4 while Rebeka Thompson finished +9 in ninth place. Grace Watson tied for 13th while Avangelena Campbell finished in 16th place. E-State wrapped up the team title Monday by birdieing three of four holes between #5 and #8 to build an eight-shot lead and parred their final four holes coming in to finish at -15 under. Emporia State disc golf returns to action to host a Mid-American East Conference event Saturday, January 25 in Emporia at Peter Pan Park.
