Emporia’s Underground Utilities Department spent several hours fixing a water main break near the downtown area Sunday evening.
Crews were called out to the intersection of Fifth and State around 5 pm. Air temperatures were in the single digits with wind chills below zero as crews handled repairs.
This is the second recorded water main break in town over the past week. Crews repaired a broken main in the 500 block of Merchant on Thursday.
