One of downtown Emporia’s notable properties has a new owner.
511 Commercial, the one-time home of Newman’s Dry Goods, Madelynn’s and Sears, recently sold. Midwest Land Group agent Brenda Doudican isn’t confirming the new owner, but Lyon County records now list the owner as Peterpan Company out of Herington. Calls to the office to detail future plans for the building have not been returned.
Jenny Losada owned the address before the sale, using it as event rental space. There was also a small art gallery that has since been discontinued.
The sale price has not been announced.
511 Commercial is a multi-level, nearly 40,000-square-foot building constructed in the 1870s for retail and office units, according to Midwest Land Group data.
