The Emporia State track and field teams headed east to Pittsburg State for the Rumble in the Jungle on Friday. ESU’s men finished third while the women were seventh in the team standings. The Hornets picked up provisional qualifiying marks from Emmanuel Dukpe in the 400m dash, Max Neely in the pole vault, Connor Deters in the shot put, and Ty Anderson in the 60m dash. Madison Vermetten won the women’s weight throw with a toss of 53 feet-1 inch for the Lady Hornets. ESU returns to the capital city for the Washburn Open next weekend.
