The Olpe girls stormed out to a 20-9 first quarter lead, before doubling up Burlingame 62-31.
Junior Lilly Skalsky led all scorers with 21, as the Eagles improved to 9-2.
The boys contest was for a winner-take-all regular season championship for the Lyon County League, as both teams entered undefeated in league play.
The first quarter saw both teams trade blows before Brecken McGuire hit a buzzer beating 3 3-pointer to give Olpe a 14-7 advantage.
Olpe would build their lead to as high as 9 in the second quarter but Burlingame would respond to pull within 2 with 2:00 to play in the half. Olpe ended the half on a 4-0 run.
The second half saw both teams trade blows with Olpe building double-digit leads before a Burlingame run. The Bearcats would only be able to pull within 6 before Olpe ended victorious 47-35.
McGuire led all scorers with 24, pushing Olpe down the stretch with 9 in the 4th quarter alone.
Chris Schmidt spoke about McGuire’s court presence on offense.
10-1 on the season, Olpe heads into the LCL tournament as the one seed while Burlingame will be the 2 seed at 9-2.
Madison and MdCV split their doubleheader with MdCV defeating the Lady Bulldogs, 55-54, with Madison taking the boys game, 55-32.
