The Emporia High boys basketball team led from start to finish in an 84-49 victory over Goddard in the third-place game of the Bluestem Classic in El Dorado on Saturday afternoon.
Emporia High led 17-6 at the end of the first quarter and led 41-22 at halftime. The Spartans scored 31 points in the third quarter and led 72-37 heading into the fourth quarter. The final eight minutes of the contest were contested with a running clock. The Spartans finished the game shooting 55% from the field and went 16-of-28 from beyond the arch.
Three Spartans scored in double figures led by Harry Trelc with 19 points and five 3-points. Rylan Crowell had 15 points and three 3-points and Nolan Jacob had 12 on four 3-pointers. 12 Spartans played with 10 scoring. Emporia High coach Lee Baldwin liked how his team performed.
Trelc was named to the All-Hustle Team, while Crowell and Kobe Franklin were named to the All-Tournament team.
Emporia High is now 6-4 on the season. The Spartans host Hayden in a makeup game from Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The RV-Doc Pregame Show will begin at 5:45 p.m. on KVOE.
