The Emporia High wrestling teams competed at two different sites on Saturday.
The Spartans hosted their Winter Duals tournament and finished third. Emporia High went 3-1 with a 69-6 victory over Fredonia, and a 40-38 victory over Bishop Kelley (Okla.) before falling 59-19 to Washburn Rural. The Spartans won the third place dual, 42-39, over Olathe Northwest.
The Lady Spartans finished 10th in the Southside Slam in Olathe. Alexa Castillo finished third at 235. Yaneli Carranza finished fourth at 145. Sienna Spaulding (105), Heily Batres (115), Kensley Medrano (120) and Mia Gardner (135) each finished seventh in their respective weight classes. Chloe Steele (110) and Karah Cooper (125) finished eighth.
Emporia High will return home on Tuesday for duals featuring Basheor-Linwood and Salina Central.
