It’s once again tournament time inside of White Auditorium this week.
The 104th Lyon County League Tournament kicks off Monday inside of White Auditorium and longtime tournament Director Ted Vannocker joined KVOE’s Morning Show Monday to preview the event. The tournament has been held at White Auditorium now for the last 85 years and Vannocker says there is always a high level of excitement for the games inside the venue from players, parents and officials alike.
Vannocker says the excitement for the tournament each year is a validation of the work that goes into putting on the best event possible. This will be the 48th year for Vannocker as tournament director. During his interview Monday, he said operationally there has been little change over that time noting the best way to ensure the best experience is to keep what’s working going and make improvements when needed.
That said, this year’s tournament will see a few notable changes from years past starting with the return of Northern Heights to the Lyon County League. Vannocker, known to many as the keeper of LCL history, says he is very happy to see them back in the tournament.
Another change this year is that the midweek off day for the tournament will take place Thursday instead of Wednesday.
As always, KVOE will bring you baseline-to-baseline tournament coverage on Country 101.7 FM and KVOETV@KVOE.com. You can find a full schedule for the tournament online at VisitEmporia.com.
