Several weeks of winter weather are still ahead, but this is the time of year when the National Weather Service forecast offices begin announcing their severe weather training schedules. And the Wichita Forecast Office has its schedule set.
For area counties, spotter training sessions will be March 3 at Eureka High School’s auditorium and March 27 at the Swope Park Community Center in Cottonwood Falls. The Chase County session is the last one for the Wichita office this spring, barring any weather-related schedule adjustments.
The Topeka office will announce its schedule soon.
Spotter training sessions provide basic lessons about storm structure, storm features, severe weather safety in several different settings and reporting procedures.
