The Emporia State baseball team has been picked seventh in the 2025 MIAA Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll. The Hornets are set to begin year two of the Brad Hill era after finishing 21-29 with an 11-22 MIAA record last season. Coach Hill led the Black & Gold to a tie for ninth in the conference standings in 2024 as E-State missed the MIAA Tournament. ESU will be led by returning MIAA Freshman of the Year Logan Myers who hit .301 a year ago with seven home runs. After a down sophomore campaign, catcher T. J. Racherbaumer bounced back to hit .302 with five homers in 2024. The Hornets return plenty of experience on the mound with three of four starters back from last year’s team including All-MIAA honoree Cade Barton who posted a 3.18 ERA a season ago. ESU also returns three relievers who made at least 13 appearances a year ago. Hornet baseball opens up the season Friday at the First Pitch Classic with a 10:00 a.m. tilt with MSU Denver. Opening Day at the Trusler Sports Complex is set for Friday, February 14 against Concordia-St. Paul at 3:00 p.m.
