Downtown Emporia businesses with facade projects in mind don’t have much time to apply for an Emporia Main Street grant program.
The Turnbull Facade Grant Program is designed to help business with their on-site marketing by improving “front-facing” areas of commercial properties. Grants are up to $10,000, but dollar-for-dollar matches are requred, with cas, bank financing or other loans eligible as matching sources. Facades must adhere to Emporia’s downtown design guidelines and historic standards. Proposals will be reviewed by Main Street’s Design Committee before approval by the Main Street Board of Directors.
Main Street says projects that “facilitate building activation” and/or focus on upper story development will be given priority. Approved projects must be finished within a year of grant approval.
Friday is the deadline.
