The Emporia State Softball team picked up two 2-1 wins to open the 2025 season at the Branson Lead-Off Classic in Branson, Mo. on Friday. In each game the Lady Hornets plated two runs before giving up a run in the sixth but held on to beat Oklahoma Baptist in the season opener and former MIAA foe Truman State in the afternoon. The ESU wins were keyed by phenomenal starts in the circle from Gracie Rabe (1-0) and Jordan Harrison (1-0) who each picked up complete game victories while giving up three hits or less. Returners Brooke Flewelling and Haley Garnett keyed the offense accounting for all four Lady Hornet RBIs. E-State (2-0) plays day two of the classic Saturday facing Southwestern Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. and Upper Iowa at noon before wrapping up the event Sunday with two morning games against Arkansas Tech and Minnesota-Crookston.
