The Emporia High girls basketball team ended the Glacier’s Edge Tournament on a high note on Saturday against Wichita Northwest.
In a game that was played in Emporia’s High Junior Varsity, the Lady Spartans were comfortable in their gym defeating the Lady Grizzlies, 39-25. Emporia High started the game on a 6-0 run before leading 8-5 after the first quarter. The Lady Grizzlies scored the game’s next four points in the second quarter before Emporia High responded with four of its own for a 12-9 halftime advantage. Emporia High started the second half on an 8-0 run and never looked back. Adeiah Heffner led Emporia High with a career-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. Emporia High coach Taylor Scott was proud of her team after dropping consecutive games to begin the tournament.
Bailey Wiltz also scored in double figures for the Lady Spartans with 10, tying a career high. Emporia High is now 2-10 on the season and will jump back into Centennial League play on Tuesday at Topeka High.
