The Saint Patrick’s Committee is into its annual fundraising period. And committee member Barb Lowery says the shift in fundraising methods starting last year will continue this year — and until further notice.
Proceeds will be used at the committee’s discretion to benefit community groups and the committee’s scholarship program.
In years past, the committee used an auction at Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill as its main fundraiser, generating other funds through sponsorships and item sales. Lowery says a change in ownership, along with lingering impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, prompted the switch.
Another focus for the committee this year is enhancing the parade experience for the event March 15, including some fundraising money set aside to improve the committee float and a now-annual appearance by a bagpiper group out of Kansas City.
