As the National Teachers Hall of Fame’s inductee selection committee moves towards an official decision on the 2025 induction class, the Hall of Fame is also raising funds for expanding the National Memorial to Fallen Educators.
Hall of Fame Director Maddie Fennell says the memorial needs another granite tablet to honor teachers and educators who have died in the line of duty.
Each tablet costs $50,000. People interested in donating can go online to nthf.org and click “Support NTHF” for information about sponsorships, induction-week-specific fundraising, Hall of Fame bricks, the One in a Million program and “fundraising circles.”
The memorial was unveiled in 2014 with 113 names. Almost 100 more names have been added since. The memorial gained national status in 2018.
The inductees, meanwhile, will be selected on Valentine’s Day and announced during surprise gatherings into March or April.
Official induction ceremonies will be June 16-20 in Emporia.
