The National Teachers Hall of Fame’s interim executive director is now its permanent director.
The Hall of Fame’s Board of Trustees has appointed Maddie Fennell to the permanent role after Fennell was appointed for a six-month interim term a year ago, following the retirement of Carol Strickland and the short tenure of Ralph Draper.
In making its announcement, the Board of Trustees cited Fennell’s work to develop a sustainability and feasibility plan that became the foundation for the Hall of Fame’s three-year action plan, which focuses on five areas:
*Redesigning the Hall’s website, nthf.org, and enhancing the Hall’s online presence
*Reimagining the Hall of Fame museum inside Emporia State University’s Visser Hall and emphasizing the history of teaching
*Strengthening the Hall’s sustainability and financial management
*Expanding the Hall’s outreach and developing new partners
*Deepening the Hall’s engagement with stakeholders
The Hall’s announcement of Fennell as permanent director dovetails with the Hall’s induction committee selecting the 2025 induction class on Valentine’s Day and work to install a new granite tablet at the National Memorial to Fallen Educators.
