The Emporia High bowling and wrestling teams competed on the road on Saturday.
The bowling teams traveled to Hutchinson for the Buhler Crusader Classic. The Spartans took first with a series of 3,320, 104 better than runner-up Cheney. Colton Swift finished fourth with a 641 series. Nate Green finished 10th with a 589. Morgan Liggett finished 13th with a 573 and Michael Wendling was 15th with a 571. The Lady Spartans finished third with a 2,489, finishing behind Eisenhower and Buhler. Brynn Heffron was the top individual finishing seventh with a 487. Sophia Hill finished 10th with a 462. Taylor McKay finished 12th with a 456. Emporia High will host a meet on Tuesday at Flint Hills Lanes at 2 p.m.
The wrestling teams competed in the Centennial League Tournament hosted by Topeka High. Both the Lady Spartans and Spartans finished third. The Lady Spartans defeated Junction City, 42-36, and Topeka High, 69-6, and lost to Manhattan, 46-24 and Washburn Rural, 62-18. The Spartans defeated Junction City, 41-28, and Topeka High 41-30, and lost to Manhattan, 63-15 and Washburn Rural, 45-32. Regionals are up next for both teams. The Lady Spartans travel to Seaman on Feb. 15 while the Spartans head to Newton on Feb. 21 and 22.
