With a wintry mix of precipitation possible for part of Saturday and snowfall possible Tuesday, City Manager Trey Cocking says the city will do what’s needed to handle the situations as they arise.
That includes some tactical adjustments made for snow removal Wednesday like eliminating windrows at intersections and pushing snow to the middle on Commercial Street instead of the side.
On KVOE’s Morning Show on Thursday, Cocking says he was pleased with the effects of those changes. He also says those adjustments come with the city considering other steps to improve snow removal — like pretreatment — but that’s an expensive option.
What about increasing the snowplow presence in residential areas? It’s a step the city hasn’t taken in over 20 years except in extreme circumstances.
Those adjustments may remain under consideration for the 2025-26 winter season as the city continues looking at other changes, including routes, personnel and “surge” timing.
