Stormont Vail Health’s move to improve property in far west Emporia may take a step forward Tuesday.
The Emporia Metropolitan Area Planning Commission meets Tuesday evening and has a request to approve a preliminary plat, or project layout, on the agenda. Stormont has a lease extension in hand for its Cotton O’Neil space inside the Newman Regional Health Medical Partners tower, but it bought land near Roads 180 and G last spring and successfully had the property annexed into the city limits last fall — while negotiating with Newman Regional Health on matters like a lease extension and available services at a new facility, estimated to cost nearly $45 million.
Connnected to the preliminary plat discussion is a rezoning of the property. That item will be handled separately.
There is also a request for rezoning property in the 400 block of West 15th. That property sits behind Hillcrest Apartments but is owned by CareArc, which wants to use that space as parking.
A request to rezone property located north of 18th and west of G has been tabled until the March meeting.
The February meeting is at 6 pm Tuesday at the Municipal Court Room.
