The Emporia State track and field teams participated in the Ichabod Invite in Topeka over the weekend. On day one, Trenden Collins matched a season high in the high jump to finish second while Lilly Zeigler matched a career high to finish runner-up in the women’s event. Luke Grace finished second in the men’s high jump while the Hornet men’s distance medley relay finished third. On day two of the event, Max Neely finished second with a provisional qualifying pole vault of 16 feet-2 inches for the third best jump in ESU history. Madison Vermetten threw a provisionally qualified 57 feet-1.5 inches in the women’s weight throw to finish fourth with the third best throw in program history. The indoor regular season ends on the Friday Night Lights in Maryville, Mo. Despite the name, the event begins Saturday.
