Now that our intense cold is easing, the Red Cross is urging people to get out and give blood.
Jane Blocher, the executive director of Red Cross Greater Kansas, says winter weather has dented the blood supply.
All blood types are needed. There are several opportunities to donate the next two weeks:
*Monday: Logan Avenue Elementary, 2-6 pm
*Tuesday-Wednesday: Emporia State University, 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday and 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday
*Thursday: Emporia High School, 7:30 am to 2 pm
*Feb. 28: Eureka High School, 9:30 am to 2 pm
*March 3: Hartford Community Building, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
*March 5-6: Newman Regional Health, 11:30 am to 5:30 pm March 5 and 8 am to 2 pm March 6
*March 7: Timmerman Elementary, 12-5 pm
Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. To set appointments, go online to redcrossblood.org or call 800-RED-CROSS.
