The Emporia Eastside Community Group has a fundraiser designed to feed your belly and soul Saturday.
A Taste of Soul Food brings a lengthy menu to the Lee Beran Recreation Center, including but not limited to fried chicken, wild game, dirty rice, mac and cheese and peach cobbler. Kool-Aid and sweet tea are among the refreshments.
Spokesman Arthur Lorick, a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show this week, says proceeds go to the Eastside Community Group Scholarship Fund as the group continues its community work at Eastside Memorial Park and elsewhere.
This is the first time the Eastside Community Group has organized this event. Lorick says this helps to celebrate Black History Month.
The event is from 3:30-7:30 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center. Tickets are $1 to attend, with additional $1 donations for each serving.
