Emporia Spartan Boxing is returning home from the world’s fight capital following two days of hard-fought competition.
Two Spartan boxers took the ring in Las Vegas for the 2025 Masters Championship tournament Saturday and Sunday. This was the first competitive outing for Masters competitor Melissa Veatch who ended the weekend 1-1.
Veatch defeated Utah’s Chelsey Taylor by unanimous decision in her opening round bout Saturday to advance to Sunday afternoon’s title bout. Veatch went the distance Sunday but came up just short dropping a decision to California’s Melissa Gallagher.
Also in competition was Robert Sieberns who was making his second appearance in Vegas after a 1-1 showing in 2024. Sieberns was defeated by Utah’s Louie Cruz in the title bout of the men’s 165 lbs division.
